Stuck in a humid limbo, and waiting on the setting sun, Zoe lives in a room full of half-eaten plates and empty glasses, fostering not mould but a patch of garden within her bedroom. Immaculate flowers blossom and the lawn sweats with dew, as the arguing voices of her family echo through the garden’s roots. The green grass presses towards Zoe, she can feel herself underneath the dirt.

Woven through parallel clotheslines in a backyard, STAINS is an immersive exploration of memory, impermanence, and the quiet traces we leave behind. Suspended mesh fabrics serve as both screen and sieve, allowing a projected film to bleed through layer by layer - its clarity fading like a recollection slipping from grasp.

An experimental short film that visually immerses audiences in the story of a young woman confronting her childhood memories. Blending reality with a metaphorical exploration of the protagonist’s emotional journey, the film employs poetic realism and striking visual effects. Her inner struggles are brought to life through evocative elements of the natural world.

‘Stay With Me Til I Fall Asleep?’ endeavours to investigate our relationship with intimate spaces. It exposes the discomfort that can be produced through sharing experiences that despite universal, usually are only experienced alone. The installation concerns itself with the collision of private and intimate spaces within the domestic space. The different people displayed represent five different portraits of individuals including myself that have been curated with items and colours specific to them. Through installation you are encouraged to stare into these portraits of others, encouraged to drift off, encouraged to share the intimacy of the both harrowing and soothing process of falling asleep.

Confusion and unease consume the protagonist, as she spirals and deteriorates into thoughts and feelings she cannot escape. Her deep introspection results in further unravelling, pulling her down deeper and deeper. 

A hypnotic and deeply personal love letter to the artistic soul of the Inner West,  ‘Postcode Fragments’ dreams, disrupts, and reimagines Sydney’s people and place. Told through an evocative blend of raw footage, intimate interviews and abstract visual storytelling, the film celebrates community as it captures the relationship between art and area.

SET! will also be showcasing a selection of art through a digital gallery installation that reflects themes of comfort and home. The installation utilises projection mapping to showcase everything from photography to animation on the kitchen cabinets of the house, alongside the in-house productions made and showcased in each of the rooms.
