JURIES

JILLIAN NGUYEN
Jillian is one of Australia’s most exciting actresses, known for her dynamic roles across film and television. She stars in Noora Niasari’s Shayda, voices the lead character, Arkie, in the animated feature film Scarygirl, and is part of the main cast of the television drama One Night, alongside Jodie Whittaker and Yael Stone.
Jillian also played the female lead in the ABC surfing drama Barons and appeared alongside Hugo Weaving and Ryan Kwanten in Ivan Sen’s sci-fi film Loveland.

JENNY HICKS
Jenny has worked as an assistant editor on major feature films including Wild at Heart, the first three Matrix films, The Last Samurai. As an editor, Jenny has cut feature films such as Winnie Mandela and Emu Runner, and many more.
Expanding her scope to writing, producing, directing, and editing, Jenny’s feature documentary Dale Frank – Nobody’s Sweetie was nominated for the Documentary Australia Award at the Sydney Film Festival. The film is set for theatrical release on 1 May.

BEN FERRIS
Ben is an experienced film practitioner with over 30 years of experience. He began his film career shooting on 16mm and 35mm film. He was a Founder and Director of the Sydney Film School from 2004-2018, and is currently Founder and Producer at Breathless Films (Birdeater, Lonesome, The Longest Weekend). His 16mm short film The Kitchen won the Grand Prix from the Akira Kurosawa Foundation in Japan.

JULIAN WOOD
Julian is a former film censor during Britain’s notorious “video nasty” era, a longtime sociology academic and researcher, and a proud Inner Westie.
He’s a member and advocate of the Film Critics Circle of Australia, a contributor to FilmInk Magazine, and a returning juror for all three editions of the Inner West Film Fest Short Film Showcase. Julian has also dabbled both in front of and behind the camera as a filmmaker.
