MOONRISE OVER KNIGHTS HILL

Closing Film:

World Premiere

Directed by James Robert Woods | 100 mins | Australia | UNCL 18+

Clare, Angie and Isabel, besties at high school but now high flying and glamorously employed, spend a luxury birthday weekend away at the six-star Lothian Gate Southern Highlands farmstay with their partners in tow.

While the women share a nostalgic bond, the partners are strangers, and the simmering social machinations of the disparate personalities test the couples’ loyalty. Meanwhile, across the manicured grounds, the fraught relationship between the farmstay’s conflicted Indigenous caretaker and his anti-establishment partner threatens to derail the weekend.

Director James Robert Woods and producer Stephanie Jane Day make an audacious feature debut with this humorously tart observation of the next generation’s obsessions, featuring committed performances from a fresh cast and a climax to rule them all. It’s as Australian as it is universal, and a great way to close out the 2025 Inner West Film Fest.
