From finger-on-the-pulse Thai producers Jira “Keng” Maligool and Vanridee “One” Pongsittisak – the creative forces behind international hit How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies – comes a heartfelt coming-of-age tale that delicately explores the complexity and dynamism of teenage friendships.
Sensitively written and artfully directed by gifted debutante Jirassaya Wongsutin, Flat Girls is set against the vibrant backdrop of modern Bangkok, and plays out in an inner-city apartment complex that houses the families of local police officers.
Some here yearn for a better life beyond the neighbourhood, while others find comfort in its close-knit community. For teenagers Jane (Kirana Pipityakorn) and Ann (Fatima Dechawaleekul), this urban apartment complex is more than just home; it’s a sanctuary where they can hide and take shelter from the often-painful outside world. The depth of Jane and Ann’s friendship is tested when a handsome young policeman comes between them, prompting jealousy and threatening to change their young lives forever.
